New Life On Ancient Surface

Plant life has established itself on the surface of the Sugarloaf in the Hallett Cove Conservation Park. About 280 million years ago the southern area of South Australia was covered by ice. Some 270 million years ago it melted depositing the red and white layers of sediment at the bottom of a glacial lake.
The Sugarloaf's current form was shaped by the forces of wind and rain.
